Helleborus - Niger
Bowl-shaped white flowers, sometimes flushed with pink, appear on sturdy stems, each up to 8cm (3in) wide with a distinctive green eye. This hardy plant thrives in partial shade, making it ideal for woodland gardens or the front of a border. Flowers from December to March, when few other plants are flowering. Height 30cm.. Sow August-December. Keep at 25°C for 6 weeks if possible, then another 6 weeks in the cold frame, as cold as possible. Takes around 5 months to develop into a large enough plant to move into a small pots.
