The Dog Rose is a familiar and welcome sight in full flower in June. The pale to rich pink single flowers are fragrant. Flowers are followed by a profusion of scarlet flask shaped hips which are very high in vitamin C and are used to make syrup and wine and also used be taken for a variety of medicinal uses too. The leaves can be used to make a fragrant tea.
